Skender Earns Top Safety Award for Third Consecutive Year
Skender has been recognized by the Great Lakes Construction Association (GLCA) with the Safety Achievement Award for the third year in a row and the fifth time since 2016. This prestigious award honors outstanding safety performance in 2024 for firms exceeding 500,000+ hours worked.
At Skender, safety is a fundamental part of our lean, people-first approach to project delivery. Our certified safety team develops comprehensive, job-specific safety plans, integrating weekly site inspections, predictive analysis, proactive reporting and seamless coordination with all stakeholders to ensure the highest safety standards.
“Our teams don’t just follow safety procedures–they take ownership of them,” said Dan Torres, Safety Director for Skender. “By fostering a culture where everyone–from trade partners to field staff to corporate office–is empowered to prioritize safety and quality, we create productive jobsites where people can do their best work and return home safely every day.”
This latest honor marks Skender’s ninth industry-recognized safety award since 2013. A key indicator of safety performance is the experience modification rate (EMR), which assesses past injuries and future risk. Skender’s EMR stands at 50% better than the national industry average, reinforcing our commitment to excellence in construction safety.
