Skender Announces Key Leadership Promotions to Help Drive Growth, Innovation and Client Success in 2025
Skender, one of the nation’s top building contractors, has announced six key leadership promotions as part of its strategy to drive growth, innovation and operational excellence in the New Year. These promotions highlight Skender’s commitment to nurturing talent and delivering exceptional client service.
The promotions include:
Nelson Frech, Senior Project Manager, Team Leader. Since joining Skender’s Indianapolis team in 2022, Nelson Frech has stood out across a range of responsibilities, from business development and estimating to field support and project management. His commitment to mentoring new employees and fostering team unity has been a standout. Nelson’s problem-solving skills, along with his proactive leadership, have driven success on projects such as IU Health, Jane Pauley Community Health Center, IU School of Nursing, and Ivy Tech Kokomo. In 2024, he was also recognized as one of the Indianapolis Business Journal’s “20 in their Twenties.”
Mike Muehring, Senior Project Manager, Team Leader. A Skender team member since 2016, Mike Muehring brings 20 years of construction industry expertise to his new role. His recent projects include interior work for Salesforce Chicago and office renovations for Greenberg Traurig, RWE and Ice Miller. Mike’s leadership, mentoring capabilities, and calm demeanor have helped foster trust among his colleagues. Respected by clients and collaborators, his dedication to excellence and support for team growth are what make him truly stand out.
Will Hansen, Senior Superintendent. A member of the Skender team since 2017, Will Hansen has consistently demonstrated the ability to elevate team morale and execute complex projects. Known for his solution-oriented mindset and mentorship, Will has earned respect across the industry from clients, subcontractors and colleagues. His contributions to high-profile projects like Invenergy, Chubb, Equity LifeStyle, LinkedIn, and Bank of America are examples of his sharp eye for detail and proactive problem-solving.
Jake Lawniczak, Senior Project Manager. Since joining Skender in 2022, Jake Lawniczak has built a reputation for promoting collaboration and maintaining strong client relationships. A mentor to junior staff, Jake’s proactive communication and problem-solving skills have helped many projects run smoothly. His portfolio includes work on the 333 W Wacker repositioning and projects for Echo and Drive Capital.
Tom Walsh, Senior Project Manager. A Skender veteran since 2012, Tom Walsh’s promotion reflects his ability to combine technical expertise with a collaborative, mentorship-driven approach. His leadership has strengthened team and client relationships, and his dedication to growth has earned him respect throughout the company. Recent projects under his guidance include Ace Hardware HQ, Littelfuse, Skadden and Bank of America.
Stephanie Salazar, Senior Project Accountant. Since joining Skender in 2016, Stephanie Salazar has demonstrated outstanding leadership, accountability and calm problem-solving skills, especially on complex jobs. With her collaborative spirit, level-headed approach, and dedication to excellence, she has earned the trust of clients and colleagues alike.
